Ending The Worldwide Opioid Crisis With Ibogaine

The Global Opioid Epidemic in Perspective

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, since 1999 the number of deaths due to opioid overdose (including prescription painkillers and heroin) has quadrupled in the United States. Also, between 2000 to 2015, more than half a million U.S. residents died from a fatal overdose.

In fact, the problem in the U.S. has become so severe that the problem been declared an epidemic, leading the American government to draft a special law about the abuse and treatment of opioid addiction.

The situation in Canada is also dire, wherein in 2016, seven people were dying every day from an opioid overdose. Responses are being organized at national and regional levels and public health emergencies have been declared in the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.

While the situation in the European Union is less dramatic, it is no less troubling. The EMCDDA (European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction) states: “Europe’s opioid problem remains a central issue, reflecting the significant impact of these drugs on mortality and morbidity. We are now seeing an increasingly complex relationship between the use of heroin and synthetic opioids, accompanied by a worrying increase in overall estimates of opioid-related deaths.”

In the case of Spain, 60,000 people are currently receiving methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) to combat opioid addiction.

Opioid Overdose Deaths at Crisis Levels in the United States

As mentioned, the number of opioid overdose deaths have significantly increased in the United States. In 2016, the most recent year tracked by U.S. the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), more than 63,300 people in the U.S. died from drug overdoses, or about 144 each day, with the majority of those deaths being opioid-related.

As overdose incidents rise to alarming rates, there has never been a more urgent need to find better treatments for addiction. At New Roots, we provide ibogaine treatment for those who have a sincere desire to find freedom from opioid abuse. We believe ibogaine, a psychedelic plant medicine, has the power to make a positive change as it relates to the American and worldwide opioid crisis.

The majority of our patients come to us here to Mexico to get this life-saving ibogaine treatment because it is not authorized in the United States.

Could Ibogaine Help End the Worldwide Opioid Epidemic?

Ibogaine is showing promise for lasting reductions in opioid use, withdrawal, and cravings. This plant medicine is derived from the root bark of an African plant (Tabernanthe iboga). Ibogaine is a natural alkaloid that has been used in recent decades for the treatment of opioid withdrawal.

Recent observational studies have now added to the growing body of evidence in support of ibogaine as perhaps the most effective medical treatment available for opioid addiction.

One ibogaine treatment can effectively bypass the opioid withdrawal process and eliminate cravings.

Withdrawal and cravings are the two greatest obstacles for those seeking sobriety. This psychedelic plant medicine removes these barriers almost immediately, which gets someone on the road to recovering right away.

Ibogaine is currently illegal in the United States and most countries around the world because of its hallucinogen properties. However; ibogaine is unregulated in Mexico. The clients who come here are ready to enjoy ongoing sobriety. We prepare them to return home free from the destructive cycle of addiction.

How do we end the global opioid epidemic? At New Roots, we believe it can happen one ibogaine treatment at a time.
